Generations of Excellence

Breeders often ask how we are able to develop such consistency in the dogs we breed.

It is a difficult task to retain the virtues of your breeding stock while continuing to improve any failings or faults.  The goal is not only to produce a dog that is without major faults, but dogs which consistently produce virtues essential to the breed.

It is important to remember that perfection is not a reality...especially in this day of genetic testing. Time and experience must show the path and it maybe several generations before results can be seen.

  • Seek Advice from those most successful.
  • Think for yourself and make your own decisions.
  • Don’t let the show ring determine what you breed, but learn from it.
  • Seek consistent and predictable quality traits.

The most valuable dog for breeding is one with a line bred pedigree.  This dog will be a more consistent  producer.

"While judging I am looking for the dog or bitch that has the correct pieces and parts and the better they fit the more correct they are. My BOB went to Ch Blackwing Superfine.  He  certainty fills the eye.  I loved his outline, head and attitude.  I wish him luck in the future, and hope he can produce himself.  He has what a lot of bitches need.” Winnie Limbourne

We did not know at the time, but he went on to be the Top Producer in 2010 with very limited breeding.  He has contributed greatly to our generations.
